The virus, also called the Novel Coronavirus, began infecting people in Wuhan, China in December. There are now 45,176 confirmed cases worldwide and 1,115 dead. (44,653 of the cases are in China.) Numerous Chinese cities with a total population of over 50 million people (including Wuhan) are under full or partial lockdown to help stop the spread of the virus and its associated disease (called COVID-19). There are now 13 cases in the US and new cases in the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, and elsewhere.
