World’s first fully electric commercial aircraft takes flight in Canada
The world’s first fully electric commercial aircraft has taken off on its first test flight. The flight took off from Vancouver and lasted less than 15 minutes. Such an aircraft could fly about 160 kilometres on lithium battery power. Although that is not far, it is sufficient for the majority of short-haul flights run by Canadian carrier Harbour Air, which worked together with a engineering firm to design the plane’s motor. Harbour Air said it will take another two years to make its whole fleet electric, with further tests to confirm safety required.
