| Coronavirus cases continue to rise in Canada and around the world

The World Health Organization (WHO) is advising other countries to prepare for the worst-case scenario when it comes to COVID-19 and follow China’s example by responding quickly. While many governments are turning to major travel bans, David Akin explains why Canada is acting on a case-by-case basis.

A 70-year-old California man who was recently on the Grand Princess cruise ship has died, marking America’s first COVID-19 death outside of Washington state. A Calgary woman was also on board this ship, and is Alberta’s first presumptive case of the virus. As Abigail Bimman reports, the Grand Princess is now stuck off San Francisco’s coast, and 235 Canadians are on board.

With much concern over COVID-19, Ottawa is now asking people coming from Iran and Hubei, China to voluntarily self-isolate for two weeks after arriving in Canada. Mike Drolet looks at how quarantines, self-isolation, and social distancing can help limit the spread of the virus.

A rail blockade in Kahnawake Mohawk territory in Quebec has been relocated, nearly four weeks after it was first installed. Mike Armstrong explains why the barricade could be moved back, and how the protests are jeopardizing a LNG project in Quebec.
