Throne Speech: Trudeau government outlines agenda for minority parliament

Governor General Julie Payette, on behalf of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the federal government, delivered the speech from the throne in Ottawa on Thursday, where the priorities and groundwork were laid out of the new Liberal minority government.

The speech outlined the legislative priorities on which Trudeau plans to focus on over the coming months. Members of parliament will cast their votes either in support or against.

While delivering the speech, Payette stressed the importance of collaboration in the new session of the Liberal minority government when tackling pressing issues, such as climate change or poverty, and acknowledged the need to work with other political parties during this session of parliament.
